1st COVID19 VACCINATION PROGRAM in Parsagadhi

Bageshwari (Parsagadhi Municipality), Nepal –
A major COVID‑19 vaccination drive officially kicked off today at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Bageshwari, part of Parsagadhi Municipality, in collaboration with local municipal officials and health authorities.

📍 Who and What
Spearheaded by Dr. Chandra Bhushan Singh at PHC Bageshwari, with active coordination from officials of Parsagadhi Municipality and district‐level health officers.

The campaign marks a renewed effort to deliver Covishield vaccine doses—targeting frontline workers, healthcare personnel, elderly, and individuals with serious underlying health conditions.

🎯 Who Was Vaccinated
The initiative prioritized four key groups:

Front‑line workers, including emergency and sanitation teams

Healthcare workers and staff at health facilities

Elderly residents, often higher risk for severe illness

Those with pre‑existing diseases or chronic conditions

🏛 Why It Matters
Nepal’s national vaccination rollout began in early 2021 through the COVAX facility, with broad public access only established later that year. Initially, priority was given to frontline staff and elderly citizens, followed by general age‑based eligibility
